Are you a fan of breakfast? I'm a huge fan of breakfast. Unfortunately, I'm also terrible at waiting in lines, so many breakfast places are off-limits for me on weekends since #1 - that's the only time I can actually go to breakfast restaurants, and #2 - that seems to be the case for everyone else too.
Three months ago, I got married and we spent half of our honeymoon being tourists in Montreal. We gave ourselves a week where every day, we'd hit up a different breakfast place we hadn't had a chance to both try. I'll be documenting a few of those in the coming weeks. This is our story.

Café Régine
First stop on our breakfast adventure was the ever-popular Régine - situated in Rosemont on Beaubien at the corner of Cartier. Even on a Monday in the middle of May, we managed to wait outside for a solid 15 - 20 minutes. Once inside, the service was very fast, and the waitstaff was very attentive.
They start you off with a shot of fresh fruit and vegetable juice. I can't tell you what the shot of the day was, but it had a bitter taste to it. Beet? Carrot? 🤷 We're drip-coffee-kind-of-people so what do we know.
I tried to find the names of what we ordered, but the menu seems to change, as the one currently on their website is not the same one we had there. I have two strategies when approaching a menu: "What's something I've never had?" or "What sounds weird and random enough to be good?"
The meal I chose was a sweet and salty dish: it included a thick and hefty portion of french toast, a poached egg, pulled ham, and a dollop of cream fudge. The french toast was amazing: it was fluffy, flavorful, and moist. I never had pulled ham before, and it was pretty tasty and super tender. The mix of sweet and salty between the cream fudge and pulled ham was perfection. If you order this, try to plan your bites so you have both on your fork - it's heavenly.
The husband went a lil' more traditional with something called le GROS JAMBOM, which includes eggs, bacon, ham, creton, and a baguette. He really liked it and made lots of weird "mmmm" and "ahh" sounds while eating it.
Verdict: I like this place a lot and I totally understand the hype. That being said, I would definitely go here again - on a weekday where I will not have to wait in line, of course.
